Our Founder

For more than 20 years, Gideon Grunfeld has been on the front lines of the job market.  He is a former Human Resources executive, business consultant and attorney who understands how and why people get hired in the real world.  With his combined knowledge of law and the job market, Gideon founded Successful Career Strategies in 2004.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics, Gideon worked as a Human Resources executive, both at a Fortune 500 company, ADP, Inc., and at a teaching hospital with more than 5,000 employees.  In this capacity, he retained head hunting firms, temp agencies, reviewed thousands of resumes and cover letters, and was involved in hiring decisions involving a wide array of jobs, ranging from blue collar workers to corporate executives.

Gideon started his legal career in San Francisco. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board and an Associate Articles Editor for the Hastings Law Journal.  Following graduation, he clerked for the

Honorable Gary L. Taylor of the United States District Court for the Central District of California.  He was then a business consultant for almost ten years, first at the Los Angeles office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and then at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. Gideon’s practice included defending employers in employment discrimination cases.  He was part of a team that successfully defended John Deere in a 40-plaintiff age discrimination lawsuit.  The jury verdict in favor of Deere was selected by the National Law Journal as one of the top ten most significant defense verdicts of the year.

Gideon has helped countless lawyers make effective career transitions.  He speaks and writes extensively about law careers.  He wrote the career advice column for the online law portal, emplawyernet.com.  He has spoken to law school students, the Los Angeles bar Association, the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and the state bar associations of Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania about “How to Find Your Next Law Job.”  Gideon is a member of the National Speakers Association, and is a former President of its Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
